Broke Down Ford (3:41)

Out on the Dempster Highway sittin' in a broke down Ford goin' nowhere
Out on the Dempster Highway sittin' in a broke down Ford wishin' I was somewhere
And I'm thinkin' of where I'd rather be
But this ol' rig she just won't start
And I'm thinkin' of songs I'd like to sing
But there's no strings on my guitar

I left home just the other day
Destination Inuvik in mind
Haulin' a load of machinery bound for Mackenzie Bay
With a head full of dreams and a lot of time

Now I'm dreaming of where I'd rather be
With my lady by my side
And I'm dreaming of good time company
Far away from these northern skies

I ain't goin' nowhere all alone far from home
And this ol' rig is spent
Without a doubt I'm down and out
In the land of the rainbow's end

Listening to the rain fallin' on the roof
Wonderin' where in the world I went wrong
Lady luck had left me way back in Vanderhoof
She left me with this highway song

Now I'm thinking of good times I've been missin'
But this ol' rig she just won't start
And I'm thinking of songs I could be singing
But there's no strings on my guitar

And there's nothin' I can do

But except my fate, sit here and wait
Where night time never comes
Without a doubt I'm down and out
In the land of the midnight sun

Out on the Dempster Highway sittin' in a broke down Ford
And I feel so all alone
Way out on the Dempster Highway sittin' in a broke down Ford
Wishin' I was home
