Big Wind on the Way - October 15th, 2005
This album covers a lot of musical ground and is kind of a sonic journey through all the musical landscapes that have inspired Holly and Jon.
It starts with a contemporary soul/funk thing, called ‘One Desire’ and then proceeds through psychobilly, traditional country, blues, swing, detours through folk rock territory for a while, visits the blues again and ends up back where it began, with another funky song, entitled ‘Human Kindness’.
This 12 song cd offers an hours worth of music and not only features Holly’s incendiary vocals, Jon’s soulful, heart felt guitar playing and their warm vocal harmonies, but also showcases some great sax playing, compliments of Rick Lingard, funky organ by Brandon Smith, groove filled drumming with Adam Arsenault and Bill Wilson, and on the final track, funkmeister, Mark Spielman plays the Fender P bass.
The songs on this album reveal Holly and Jon’s song writing prowess, individually and collectively. Three of the songs were written by Holly, three by Jon and the remaining six songs a collaboration of their talents.
